Oare Primary School PTA
Connecting School, Family and Community
Oare C of E Primary has an active PTA, which raises funds for school projects, as well as providing opportunities for memorable community events for all.
We have four projects that we are actively fundraising for and are already making progress toward:
- Converting the school rear garden into a Rain Garden.
The garden will capture roof water, increase biodiversity and provide space for growing and harvest vegetables to further develop our science and geography curriculum. We have received grant funding, cleared the garden and are now awaiting the garden design so we can start planting!
2. Converting the old kitchen into a technology classroom
The new classroom will be set up for science, design and food technology to enhance the children’s learning. There will be access to the new rain garden, to allow for the lessons to use both spaces as well as the produce from the garden. The old kitchen is now almost demolished, so we hope to be able to put in the new kitchen units soon.
3. Developing a ‘ quiet garden’ in the main playground.
Thanks to everyone who came on Green Gestures Day and cleared the weeds. We now have an area where the children can sit and read outside. The final touches will be to lay down some bark and install a sun shade and seating.
4. Developing spaces to be used for forest school activities and outdoor learning
We have been offered use of some land near the school and plan to make this suitable for children to access so they can move more lessons outdoors and take advantage of the beautiful location our school is in.
If you’d like to contribute to any of these projects, we’d really appreciate it. Please contact the school office who’ll put you in touch with the treasurer for details.

Past projects
Thanks to everyone who has contributed time, effort and money over the last few years. We try and update parents every term on what we’re spending the funds raised on.
Recent examples of the incredible impact of PTA contributions:
- Resourcing of a bespoke classroom design project by Early Excellence in order to provide a well-planned, rich and stimulating environment for our EYFS and KS1 children.
- Aspirational performance opportunities for all pupils in the last two years with the purchase of resources and licences for Lion King Jr (2022) and Matilda Jr (2023).
- Annual subsidised pantomime trip for the whole school to the Watermill Theatre, Newbury.
- Initial consultation and design for our Rain Garden (as we mentioned above)
- New School noticeboard outside the school gates
- New Dictionaries and Thesauruses for all KS2 pupils.
- Reading books and other classroom equipment to advance the education of the children of the school
How can you get involved?
First and foremost, every parent is part of the Oare C of E Primary School PTA. You do not have to have an official role in order to be part of the PTA. The PTA committee are elected each year at the AGM in September and hold meetings every half term to plan the year’s fundraising events. All parents and carers are welcome at the PTA meetings, you do not have to be a committee member to attend.
To support our PTA, you could:-
- Volunteer your time at events such as cake sales, Sports Day, Film Nights, School Discos, School Fairs and other events. You can help at one event or ten – whatever you time you can spare is helpful! We are all parents and know that it’s hard to commit to extra activities
- Bake for or buy from our cake sales – or both!
- Join the committee
- Come along to meetings, without the commitment of becoming a committee member.
- Donate prizes to our raffles and tombola stalls.
- Sign up to Easy Fundraising – Easy Fundraising partners with over 7,000 brands who will donate part of what you spend to our School funds. You could use it to do your weekly online supermarket shop….
