Early Years

Welcome to Robins!

We love exploring our indoor and outdoor areas and use them to be creative.

Inside, we love to build huge towers in the block and construction areas, create new small worlds, visit our domestic role play area ‘Cold Blow Cottage’, design and make things in our workshop, paint, draw or read quietly in our book corner and act out stories with our puppets! We love our home-made playdough that we can experiment with and investigate different textures and smells!

We enjoy playing outside and exploring our local area, either on foot or by taking an exciting trip in our school minibus. The huge climb up Huish Hill helps us to learn to balance and climb, West Woods is always great to visit in May to see the bluebells and Oare Arboretum helps us to understand the changing seasons. We are so lucky that West Stowell Farm shares sheep shearing, cow milking and lots about how they care for our world with us.

We are very lucky that adults who care for us help us chose a sharing book with a toy to take home each week when we first start school, as well as a book to help us practise the sounds we have learnt in phonics! Learning through play is always fun.

Do come and visit us so we can share what we love about our school – but don’t forget your wellies!

The Early Years Foundation Stage at Oare C of E Primary School

Our philosophy is to value every child as a unique individual, who enjoys learning and thinking for him or herself whilst developing our school’s We Care values of wonder, empathy, community, aspiration, resilience and equality. Our aim within the Early Years Foundation Stage is to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment, which allows all children to feel secure and valued and therefore ready and eager to learn. We provide a supportive and secure environment in which every child can flourish and learn at their own pace and in their own individual way. Our role is to stimulate and encourage their development and enjoyment of learning through a blend of different continuous and enhanced provision and adult-directed activities.

We believe the relationships which the children develop in the Early Years, with each other and with our staff, are central to their happiness and will lay the best possible foundation for them to become independent lifelong learners.

We are so excited that our children have a forward thinking, well-resourced, spacious indoor and outdoor space designed in partnership with Early Excellence and installed in August 2023.

Our learning environment is supported by an experienced and dedicated group of staff who ensure that all pupils thrive and grow, setting firm foundations for happy and successful learners and who have worked hard to ensure our curriculum plan reflects our newly installed, exciting and ambitious provision.
